ANNA -- Funeral services for William "Bill" Thomas, 77, of Route 1 Jonesboro, will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna. Rev. Jack Holmes, pastor of the Apostolic Faith Tabernacle in Jonesboro will officiate and burial will be in the Casper Cemetery, north of Anna.
Thomas died Friday, July 15, 1994 at Union County Hospital. He was born Nov. 4, 1916 in Union County, the son of John R. and Inis Brimm Thomas. On Feb. 2, 1946 he married Valarine Tucker, who survives.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Inis Houseman of Southhaven, Miss. and Linda MacNiff of Schaumbur, Ill.; three brothers, Leroy Thomas and Gene Thomas, both of Eureka, Ill., and Orville Simmons of Tunnel Hill, Ill.; three sisters, Mary Heinz and Stella Baumheater, both of Greer, S.C., and Amy Ruth Hill of Anna; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Thomas was of the Pentecostal faith and a member of the IBEW Local #702 in West Frankfort. For many years he operated Val's motor repair at Belcher Electric Shop in Anna.
