Rife, 87, died Sunday, March 23, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Sept. 13, 1909, in Pulaski, son of George W. and Lily Mae Kiefer Rife. He and Marion Fox were married Sept. 7, 1940. She died July 12, 1989.

A graduate of Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, he retired as a realtor in Long Beach, Calif.

Survivors include two nieces, Judy Atherton of Ullin, Louise Allen of Pulaski; and a nephew, Lee Rife of Rochester.
