William H. "Bill" Walker, 85, of Jackson died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, at the Monticello House in Jackson.
He was born on July 30, 1921, at Cape Girar¿deau, son of Charles and Stella Unger Walker. He married Eutha Craft on Jan. 1, 1984, at Oran, Mo.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He worked as an aircraft mechanic at the Cape Girardeau airport and was a pilot for a crop-dusting company. He worked at McDonnell-Douglas Aircraft in St. Louis for 30 years. After retirement, he restored homes for resale in Wood River and Alton in Illinois and in Jackson.
In 1982, he moved to Jackson from Alton. He was a member of Shawnee Hills Baptist Church in Jackson.
Survivors include his wife of Jackson; two sons, David Walker of Sherwood, Ark., and Woody "Butch" Walker of Woodburn, Ill.; a daughter, Julene "Julie" Waters of Godfrey, Ill.; four grandchildren and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call today from 4 to 7 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jack Bishop officiating. Burial will be in New Bethel Baptist Cemetery followed by a military honors service.
