William L. "Bill" Winkler, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Saint Francis Medical Center.
He was born July 5, 1926, in Gordonville to William J. and Edna A. Siemers Winkler.
He and Evelyn "Sis" Siemers were married Nov. 3, 1957, at Zion Lutheran Church.
Bill retired from the Bank of America as senior vice president.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the board of directors of the Lutheran Home for 35 years.
Bill served in the Army from 1945 to 1947. He was a member of American Legion Post 63 and VFW Post 3838.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Winkler of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Sarah (Brad) Iberg of St. Louis and Gayle Winkler of New York City; and two grandchildren, Brent Iberg and Kaylen Iberg.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Phillips.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church.
A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Rev. Douglas Breite officiating.
Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park.
Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church or Saxony Lutheran High School.
