SCOTT CITY -- Funeral service for Wilma Laverne Adams of Scott City will be held at 1 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. The Rev. William Dickey will officiate, with burial in Lightner Memorial Cemetery.

Adams, 78, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 1996, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born April 27, 1918, in Paragould, Ark., daughter of William H. and Lilly Doughty Downs. She and James "Holly" Adams were married March 8, 1941, in Cape Girardeau.

Adams was a member of VFW Auxiliary to Post 3838, St. Mark's Chapter 167 Order of Eastern Star, both in Cape Girardeau, and Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Auxiliary.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Linda Schranz of Collierville, Tenn., and a sister, Jean Austin of Paragould.
