To the editor:
I would like to give my sincerest thanks to everyone involved in making the Missouri State Advisory Council on Historical Preservation and the State Historic Preservation Office feel so welcome to the Cape Girardeau community. Their two-day stay in Cape Girardeau was a monumental success.
The success of the two-day event would not have been possible without the generosity, dedication and hard work of so many people within the Cape Girardeau community: Mayor Jay Knudtson; Doug Leslie, city manager; Brenda Schloss and Rich Daume, Department of Planning Services; Terrell Weaver, Parks and Recreation Department; Chuck Martin and staff, Convention and Visitors Bureau; Tim Arbeiter and Old Town Cape,; Phil Brinson and staff and Buckner Brewing Co.; Dennis "Doc" Cain and staff, Port Cape Girardeau Restaurant; Dr. Steven Hoffman and the historic preservation program, Department of History, Southeast Missouri State University; Dr. Stanley Grand, director, Southeast Missouri Regional Museum; Lisa Howe, facilities management, Southeast Missouri State University; Robert and Kaye Hamblin; Kevin Priester, Alliance Water Resources; and Jon Rust, Rex Rust, Kim McDowell, Judi Naeter, Mark Kneer and Mark Bliss, Southeast Missourian.
Thank you to everyone who became involved and helped to make May 19 and 20 a huge success.
TERRI FOLEY, Historic Preservationist, Cape Girardeau
