On behalf of the Cape Girardeau Urban Deer Management Committee, I want to thank the citizens of Cape Girardeau for their patience while we studied the issue, received input from the public and talked to several experts. We analyzed the facts and tried to keep emotions out of this controversial subject.

I believe most people agree that there is a problem with large wildlife within the city limits. How to address the problem is the issue. We made our recommendations as charged by the city manager. The majority viewpoint was presented to the city council. The lone opposing vote was allowed to make his position known also.

In the end, we met our goal, providing information and recommendations to the city council to evaluate. The decision now lies with our elected officials.
