I was saddened to hear of the passing of Ollie Amick. I grew up in Old Illmo, and Ollie was always a fixture of our community. When I first tried out for Little League baseball, Ollie was there. He was supportive of the youths of our community, and he was a true representative of the people during his time in politics, not just another politician. I do not remember anyone ever having anything other than good words about Ollie. He was a man to be respected. I no longer live in that community, but my family has deep roots there, and I have many ties. Sadly, I even have to come home once in a while to visit the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home to say goodbye to a loved one. Ollie will be missed. He holds a special place in my heart.
