To the editor:

Our son, Terry Alexander Hale, was born Nov. 5, 1996. This is a list of people we would like to thank for their support in our time of need.

An anonymous person donated a motel room. Mike Bogmar, manager of a Holiday Inn in St. Louis, helped with the arrangements. In addition, we would like to thank Larry Abbott at Larry's Store 24, First Financial Bank of Scott City (now Union Planters Bank), Clara Mae at IGA, Baker's Bestway, Thumbs Up Video (now Feature Presentation Video), JJ's Pub & Grub (now closed), the Scott City Police Department, County CB Club in Chaffee, Unity (Ill.) Baptist Church, Southeast Missourian for running a story in the paper, donors from Cape, Scott City, Chaffee and Illinois, Rick Talbert of Boatmen's Bank, all our family and friends for everything they did to help out.

The donations totaled $2,000. That helped with food, bills and baby needs for the first couple of months when were taking off from work to stay in St. Louis.

The biggest thanks goes to Synthia (Martin) Gunter for setting everything up and for handling phone calls and donations. Thanks also for the time she spent and to her family for the help and support they gave to us.

Thanks to all those who did not know us and were generous enough to help in our time of need.

A huge thanks to Cardinal Glennon Hospital and all the doctors who have helped our son to live a long, healthy life. Alex has had four surgeries and is doing great. He is still seeing doctors regularly. He is trying to walk, although the doctors said he would not.
