Some business establishments are subject to grow on people in appeal. They become a household name, so to speak. The J.C. Penney store is thought of as that. It takes a good, personable, outgoing and well-trained manager to bring that about.

Very often a sales clerk is impressed by that fact and is encouraged to perform her duties to the best of her ability and interest. It appears important for a manager to establish good relations with his staff of workers by gaining their respect and admiration.

Kindness and understanding play a large part, as well as the ability of financial management. I have known this to not be true of other managers, causing clerks to seek jobs elsewhere.

I give credit, then, to Mr. Harry Rediger for much of the success of the J.C. Penney store here in Cape, for its continued growth and popularity and for the warmth it portrays.

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Mr. Rediger one Christmas Eve at Centenary Methodist Church with Dr. and Mrs. Hilty, and I saw immediately the reason for that growth and popularity of the J.C. Penney store.
