Dear editor:

On May 10, 1997, while installing the officers for the Missouri State Council of the International Reading Association in Columbia, I was stricken with a neurological medical emergency.

Being a member of Lynwood Baptist Church, a teacher at L.J. Schultz School, active in Cape Girardeau Community Teachers Association No. 1, and active in the Missouri State Teachers Association in addition to the Reading Council, caused fellow church members, students, parents, professional colleagues, friends and family to learn of the emergency.

Thank you to all who remembered me and my family in prayer, support, cards, banners, gifts, concerns, food, and love while I was in the hospital and since I came home.

After getting excellent care for 17 days in the University of Missouri Medical Center, I am home. There seems to be no permanent deficits in mental or physical functioning that will affect me seriously. However, there will be follow-up care.

My family and I sincerely "Thank you" and "God Bless You" for everything you have done for us!

Mary D. Wilhite and her family, Bob and Arthur Wilhite
