To the editor:

Carl Meyer was a bit older than I. However, his brother, Bob, and I were confirmed at Evangelical United Church of Christ and graduated from Central High School together, so I had a relationship with the family.

It took a number of mature years before I really became better acquainted with Carl and his wonderful wife, Millie.

I was away for a number of years. Upon my return, we met through golf. I learned they had such a wonderful life of devotion to each other and a wide variety of shared enjoyment.

My most appreciated memories of Carl will always be his tireless assistance to my mother, Ella Keller McGowan, and, after her death, his dedicated caring for my stepfather, Fred C. McGowan, with his expertise and financial advice.

I know there are many who share my opinion of Carl's thoughtful, caring interest in each individual.

Thank you, Carl. We know you have surged through St. Peter's gate with flying colors.
