The real problem THANK YOU, Sam Blackwell, for pointing it out. The problem that the concealed-weapons proponents are addressing has nothing to do with crime. The real problem

THANK YOU, Sam Blackwell, for pointing it out. The problem that the concealed-weapons proponents are addressing has nothing to do with crime. Big difference

A LOT of my good GOP friends are having trouble reconciling their past bashing of Bill Clinton for his womanizing with their wanton desire to support Arnold Schwarzenegger. However, there is a very important distinction between the two: Schwarzenegger is a Republican.

Not serious

THIS WAS pretty hilarious. A headline reads, "Bush clears three White House staff, doubts that leaker will be found" -- like it's his job to make these proclamations. Why does the press even take these people seriously?

Work together

THERE IS nothing wrong with criticizing a sitting president until it gets to the point that facts are ignored and people start pointing fingers. While it is true that the economy was better during Bill Clinton's time in office, one must also realize that the economy, like most other aspects of life, has natural highs and lows. When we stop looking for someone to blame for our all of our country's problems and spend more time on working together to solve them, we will soon see a better America for everyone.

Raw end of the deal

REGARDING THE comment about the recipient of child support paying taxes: When it comes to paying child support, there is nothing fair about the whole process. The one who pays gets the raw end of the deal.

No national language

THE CALLERS complaining about people in America speaking languages other than English seem to be laboring under the impression we have a national language here. We don't.

Regulating signs

I'M HAPPY to see the city is starting to enforce the rules about business signs. There are several stretches on Kingshighway where you can barely see oncoming traffic to get back onto the road. It's not safe. I'm glad there are rules and that the city is taking action.

Neighborhood issues

WOULD SOMEONE please explain to me why the mayor and city council of Cape Girardeau continually disregard the homeowners and roll over to the wants and wishes of business owners. When you knowingly buy property in a residential area because you like the neighborhood and then want rezoning because you want to run a business from your house, you are blatantly being selfish to people who have resided in that neighborhood for years. Shame on this mayor and council for their irresponsible mentality. This mayor needs to remember he is representing residents of Cape Girardeau and should be doing what's best for the city, not dictating what he feels is best for his personal beliefs.
