** Postal change; ** Apology; ** Better park; ** Make history

Postal change

The postal service is like every other business. They cut back here, make changes there. Just trying to keep their heads above water. The computer age has hit them hard. So stop complaining. Be glad they are still in business.

Apology

On Dec. 8 around 3 p.m. at the Cape Wal-Mart, I was delayed, along with several other cars, by a person waiting in a driving aisle for someone to exit a parking space close to the front. I became irritated, and honked twice, showing impatience. An extremely nice, soft-spoken lady got out and tried to explain to me that she needed the space for her elderly passenger. I would have none of it, and told her to just go around. Well, I was completely out of line, am ashamed of myself, and want to apologize to that fine lady for my boorish behavior. I have no idea who she was, or even remember what type of car she was driving. Nice lady, please accept my apology.

Better park

So nice to see that dogs have a park; Capaha is getting a bigger playground. Meanwhile on the Southside we have a park center that most kids can't get to safely. A park accessible, but very little to do there, so hardly anyone uses it. This is not just the southside (South of 74, or Far Cape as kids call it) but south central kids, from Independence to 74. I guess it is a money talks thing. However, missing out on kids that really need the Play 360 help.

Make history

Kudos to Notre Dame Regional High School basketball coach Paul Unterriener and the players for what was the first time in the history of the school Notre Dame (earlier Cape Catholic and St. Mary's) to defeat Charleston on their home floor. I take no credit for reporting this historical fact. It all goes to the most-learned sports fan in the area and one whose knowledge of historical sports facts ranks second to none, not only in this area but statewide and, perhaps, nationally; Mr. Richard "Dicky" Lawrence.
