Fruitland incorporation

DEAR residents of the proposed Fruitland incorporation area: Be prepared to hold onto your wallets. Once your village incorporates, the village will be responsible for taking on various administrative duties. In order to fund these duties, the village must have a source of revenue -- tax dollars. The purposed area is to include the quarries. Only state and federal agencies have oversight of quarry operations. Despite this, the ones pushing for incorporation have said the village will have authority over the quarries. The quarries have made it known they will not be incorporated. Where does Fruitland think they will have the money to fight the quarries? You guessed it, your tax dollars.

Miller column

YOU may need to check the history books on this one, but Bob Miller's critique of Rush Limbaugh will, historically speaking, rank right up there with Emile Zola's "I Accuse" diatribe about the Dreyfus case. Great job, Bob!

Chinese roads

SOMEONE criticized the fact that the Chinese are building our roads and bridges. Why? They did a good job building our railroads.

Other side?

SOMEONE demanded that Bob Miller's criticism of Rush Limbaugh for his vulgar characterization of another woman be complemented with an editorial presenting the other side. What other side?

Abstinence

ABSTAINING from sex is also free.

Gas prices

IN regard to the high price of gas, oil companies set the price, not the president. He has no control of that, and as far as drilling here in America, North Dakota is expected to have dug 500 new wells by 2015. As far as Canada goes, they want America to give them billions so they can ship us 5 percent and send the rest overseas.
