Graduation party

THE KIDS who were there were also breaking the law. It is against the law to watch a crime being committed and not try to stop it or call the police. By being designated drivers to underage drinkers, they were breaking the law.

National issue

TO ALL belly-aching about the ethanol plants: They are coming no matter what you do or say. If you don't want it, leave Scott City alone and go to your legislators in Congress. It's a national issue now, so deal with it.

Gasoline taxes

I OPPOSE eliminating gasoline taxes, because those taxes fund the roads we drive on. Besides, the gas taxes are fixed regardless of the price per gallon. We're getting a bargain. In Missouri, we pay a flat rate of 17.55 cents per gallon. In Germany, the flat rate of 65 cents of a Euro is paid for every liter of fuel, or about the equivalent of $3.33 for every gallon. The total amount we pay for gas here would only pay for the taxes in Germany.

Trained to kill

LOGIC SAYS that those at Gitmo deserve lawyers to represent them at any trial. But logic ends there. Those at Gitmo are there because of their hatred of mankind. They are prone to violence at the drop of a hat. How can I say this? Easy. The groups they are suspected of being involved with don't care if they kill man, woman or child, innocent or guilty, soldier or civilian. Killing is their objective, destroying as many as possible whenever they are called upon to do so. If you want compassion for their plight, you'll have to look elsewhere. The compassion I have for them is that they are so deceived, so filled with hatred, there is no way to reach them. They are true killing machines. Don't blame the soldier. Don't blame America. Blame them and the teachers who taught them so well.

Nice doctors

I HAD to go to a wound center recently. I have never met two doctors who were nicer. They didn't hurry. They talked. They had time to spend with you. That is so unusual for our doctors in this day and age.

Oil refineries

REGARDING THE high prices of gasoline: Yes, the problem is refineries, but failure to repair plants that go down isn't the problem. Oil companies cannot afford to build new refineries. One company tried over 10 years, and because of environmental and governmental regulations it finally quit. Nobody can build one under the current environmental programs and government bureaucracy and make money, so no one tries anymore.
