Blaming leaders

JUST look at our government representatives. They use our Social Security money to pay for their projects, then tell us because they have no money, we won't get the benefits of Social Security unless we let them borrow even more money. America is supposed to be the wealthiest nation in the world, yet it is in debt to the Chinese. And the very people representing us that are to blame keep getting elected because people believe them when they say they are not to blame and they can fix it.

Fire them

IF I owned a business run by some 550 employees and managed by two others that was being as ineptly run as the United States, I would fire all of them.

Stop spending

OUR politicians cannot agree on how to lower spending and get the government under control. They want to cut spending 10 years from now, but keep overspending for the next several years. Maybe they just want to overspend until they are out of office or die. When you have spent all of the money you can borrow, it is time to cut back today and start paying off the loan.

Ignoring reality

IT would be funny if it wasn't so sad for the country to watch our inexperienced, liberal president muddle hopelessly through the financial mess that he did not necessarily create but definitely made worse. He ignored the economic realities of the downturn in the economy and aggressively pursued his wild spending spree, moving forward his left-wing social agenda without regard for the consequences.

Smiling about what?

EVERY time I see the congressional debate on raising the debt limit, the people in the picture are always smiling. What are they smiling about?

Thumbs up

I was driving to St Louis, north of Perryville, and an SUV passed me doing 90 mph. Four or five miles later I see the highway patrol has it pulled over. Is it OK to slow down, honk and give a "thumbs up" to the trooper?

Water bill

WE also just recently received our water bill. It was a $40 increase on our bill as well. A relative of mine received his bill, and he has a $60 increase. We are trying to use less water. Thank you for the increase, appreciate it. With this economy, this is just what we need from the city of Cape Girardeau.

Tour de France

WHY were there no women riding in the Tour de France seen on TV over the past several weeks? Might anyone have an opinion on this?
