Aging like fine wine

DEAR JOE Sullivan: Every week I look forward to the newest Page 2 commentary and enjoy them so much that I send them on to friends in other cities. You, sir, are like fine wine. You keep on improving with age. Thank you.

He's brought us down

BILL CLINTON is a wild man who acts in a rash and ill-rational manner without a thought or care for the consequences. Since we didn't get rid of him the first time he brought us shame, he now knows he can get away with anything. I realize that it's hard to accept the fact that America and Great Britain are the bad guys in this, yet another, bombing by Bill Clinton, but we have allowed him to bring us down to this level. Those of us who see Bill Clinton for what he really is, a smooth liar and a tyrant, beg the rest of you to get your heads out of the sand before it's too late and get rid of him. Remember, two wrongs have never made a right, and we'll pay dearly for Bill Clinton's actions this time.

Spending billions for Clinton

IF THE Democrats had been honest and had any moral decency and impeached Clinton, we wouldn't be sending American boys and girls to fight in the war that is none of our business. We will spend billions of taxpayer money for Clinton to try and make some sort of a name for himself. He doesn't care.

Inconsiderate about mud

I WANTED to make a comment about inconsiderate people in muddy shoes. I was at the gas station the other day. I could see by the pump where someone had cleaned the mud off his shoes. I was wondering why people couldn't do that before they go to the gas station. It's really aggravating to fill up with gas and walk through somebody else's mud.

No Wild West shootouts

THOSE WHO speak in opposition to Proposition B all have about the same line of horror stories about gunfights over parking spaces and the Wild West scenario and the OK Corral and the Dodge City mentality and this sort of thing. What you must remember is that these scenarios are not playing out in the 43 other states which have carry permits. We know these things aren't happening, because if they were the mainstream media would be telling you about them daily. Just remember, these things aren't happening.

Trading Bible for a gun?

I'VE BEEN been reading the pros and cons on Proposition B to carry concealed weapons. To my dismay, I was on the parking lot of one of the local hospitals. As I went by the clergy parking area I saw a pickup a minister had driven in. On the back of this pickup was the bumper sticker, "Vote for Proposition B, the right to carry." I know ministers are humans and like everybody else, but is this man going to trade his Bible for a gun? My feeling on the whole thing is if you want to carry a gun, join the Army.

Looks like Wild West

BOY. NOW we are advertising hip and leg gun holsters. Looks like we're going back to the Wild West days. I believe it's time to vote no on Proposition B. Let's get the guns off the street and not put more on.

Negative politics

REGARDING ALL the negativity in politics, I just have to say one thing. Those who can do, and those who can't criticize.

Too much to spend

I'M COMMENTING on the article about the autistic child that the parents want more from the school district. If applied behavior analysis takes five years for the Wingos son just like Ms. White's son, at $30,000 a year, that's $150,000 the school district would have to pay on dubious therapy, plus 35-40 hours a week for a 4-year-old child is ludicrous. Most full-time working adults have that kind of schedule, but not a 4-year-old. If the Wingos want this kind of experience therapy so badly, why don't they do home schooling and leave my tax dollars out if?

Destroying and saving

IT LOOKS like Clinton has decided to destroy Kosovo in order to save it.

Brave to speak against Prop B

I JUST want to say that everyone should say hurrah that Sandra Fran, Donald Crowe and Bill Zellmer, brave citizens of this community, had the courage to speak in public against Proposition B. They speak for me, I tell you now.

City should take initiative

COMMUNITY PRIDE. While driving down Melrose Street I've noticed automobiles parked in the front yards, not in the driveways, trash cans strewed about the front yards, and debris along side of the houses plus in back of the houses. Can't the city of Cape Girardeau do something about this without a formal complaint from the citizens who then would have to give their name and address? I would think that we would have a city inspector who could see this without a complaint. This would be greatly appreciated if the city of Cape Girardeau could clean the neighborhoods.

Column was all wet

I HAVE just finished reading the column "A prescription for Republicans" by David Limbaugh. I have decided he must have been asleep for several years when suddenly he woke up and saw there had been tax increases that he has not mentioned before. I think he's all wet on that column.

Thanks from a teacher

AS A teacher at Jefferson School, I would like to thank all the people who have commented to me about what a quality school we have. Our principal, teachers and staff are very caring, hard-working and talented educators.

Put up flag at Osage center

OSAGE COMMUNITY Center needs a flag. The city and citizens of Cape Girardeau should be proud of the Osage Community Center. The one thing that is missing is a flag pole with the United States flag proudly flying. This would show all visitors that we respect our country and are proud of it. I have called the parks commission several times and have never received a favorable answer if anything would possibly be done about this.
