WELL, CAPE Girardeau, I am very shocked at what I saw yesterday. Our new theater complex has only been open two weeks. The first week I went there it was brand new, and everything was beautiful. The second week I went there, someone was sitting with his feet up on the chair in front of him. Most recently when I was there, to my amazement someone had scratched a name on the inside door of a women's restroom stall. I could not believe after two weeks someone was already defacing this beautiful theater. I do hope the theater people keep track of what's going on and stop these things from happening. It's just a shame that something so beautiful is already being defaced.
I JUST like to call and say I wholeheartedly agree with the caller's idea to put William Burroughs on Cape's Wall of Fame. William Burroughs is one of the most famous heroin addicts the world has ever known, and I'm proud to found out that he is from Missouri. Maybe we could put him on the wall with his arm tied off with a belt from a Missouri mule and loading himself up with heroin made from a Missouri-grown poppies. Wouldn't that be great?
I WAS surprised to find that local law enforcement officials were involved in a drug bust. Back when I was in college, we use to have something we called a beer bust. We would all gather up and stand around and drink beer till our bellies felt like they were going to bust.
AN EDITORIAL in the Southeast Missourian recently said in part it was time to "let the debate begin over performance-based school standards from Missouri public school students." Gosh, guys, I hate to rain on your parade, but that debate is over. You lost.
