YES, I JUST wanted to say that I think it's disgusting about people wanting to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday when there are a lot of other people who have accomplished a lot more that could be celebrated and you don't hear anything about them wanting to be celebrated. I think this deal with Martin Luther King, Jr. is blown out of proportion. Thank you...

WELL CLIFF HILL is leaving us. I knew we wouldn't get to keep him long. He was a class act.

YES, I WAS just wondering why all the new lights they put up along Kingshighway and by Kingshighway and William intersection are old yellow lights when all the other lights are bright light. They put up all these new ones and they're a dingy yellow. I think you should have them all match and make them bright and light. Thank you.

THE INSURANCE OFFICE at Broadway near Kingshighway is just beautiful with the lights and pretty displays. Christmas is a time for sharing and this certainly is a demonstration of that. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

I AM A handicapped senior citizen and I'd like for you to know that I agree completely with Mr. John Martin. I don't know what words Kenny Newton objected to but in my opinion there are no words too bad for an ablebodied person who would park in a handicapped parking spot. In the first place most of these stores do not have enough handicap, they have two, maybe four, and a lot of times they are full of absolutely legal handicapped people. On the other hand you see cars parked in them that absolutely have no tag and no license. I just don't understand how anybody can do such a thing. I will tell you this, the handicapped places at the rear of the Penney's store are plainly marked and underneath each handicap sign it says $10 fine. I don't know if there are others like that around, if they're here I haven't seen them but I will tell you this, you don't ever see a car parked there that does not have a handicap tag. Thank you.

HOW CAN I write to ESPN sports headquarters? Thank you.

SEVERAL OF US who golf at the Cape JC's gold ranch would like to thank Al Spradling and Mary Wulfers for their support. They are absolutely right. That golf course needs a professional manager in the worst way. The salary that they pay such a manager could be easily recouped from the savings he makes.

THIS IS TO the person who called in saying they think Speak Out is one of the stupidest things a newspaper could print. Well, for one, I enjoy Speak Out and if you don't like it no one says you have to read it.

YEAH MR. RUST, I see Mr. Pritchard's ruffled your feathers. I'm so glad to see this. We had a little bit of more balanced news media reporting whenever the News Guardian was operating. I sent you a letter, you didn't publish it. I called in Speak Out, you didn't publish it. You publish what you want to, what you feel like is not too much negative reflection on your conduct. But as far as I'm concerned you're strictly irresponsible when it comes to reporting. I would hope that Pritchard would make a gate somewhere where somebody could be getting the information across that needs to be and certainly Mr. Pritchard has done that so far. But in reading the paper today I see you and Mr. Kinder both have really, really got your feathers up in this one. But, keep at it Mr. Pritchard, we wish you the best of luck. And, this is not from the same phone call, Mr. Rust.

I JUST WANT to thank the person that stopped on Interstate 55 today, a little minor car wreck we had and then our daughter was choking and he helped get her throat unclogged and by the time we got straightened around we realized he moved on and didn't get a chance to say thank you. So, I'm saying thank you now if he's reading this.

IF A SCOTT City policeman is stealing public property I believe that we should find out who it is regardless of the cost. Thank you.

I AM CALLING in response to the person that stated in Tuesday's Speak Out that senior citizens think they should get everything free or at a discount. If this person would have attended the meeting in regards to raising fees at the JC Golf Course they would have learned three proposals were made. The first proposal was to raise the regular annual fee $50 and senior dollars $120. This made the senior citizen mad. The second proposal was to raise the regular fee $50 and the senior citizens $85. Still not acceptable. The third proposal was to raise all fees $50. This was acceptable to the senior citizens as all we want is an even break. Thank you.

I WOULD LIKE to thank God and Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Powell for our Christmas wish come true. This elderly couple still has the Christmas spirit of loving all of God's animals no matter what they look like. After many days one of my lost and found notes was read by the right person and we got back our dog back for Christmas. Miracles still do happen. After all, it was very joyful to see him and bring him back home. God bless you and thank you very much for taking care of him and giving us the best Christmas present ever. The Christmas spirit still does live. Thank you.

THERE IS AN article about James Berkland, a county geologist with a U. S. geological survey in the San Francisco area who predicts earthquakes. It's on page 40 of the 1991 Old Farmers Almanac, the 199th Anniversary Edition.

YES, I WOULD like to know some information. I would like to know how many times has the city council, the council members themselves, have played golf at the JC Municipal Golf Course. Thank you.

YES, SPEAK OUT, I would like to reply in reference to the person who called in referring to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday. I noticed this person listed names such as Madison, Jefferson, Franklin, Washington. Let's take George Washington for instance who was a slave owner who only wanted his slaves freed on his death. Dr. King was for nonviolence, peace and harmony among all people, black, white, blue, green, orange, pink, or purple. You know I think it's pure idiotic for somebody to keep griping about a man who done so much for this country. Twenty-five years after the man was assassinated by some racist group he is still being crucified. Thank you very much and I certainly hope you print this.

I LIVE ON Hwy. 72 west of Jackson. For at least the last four weeks and perhaps longer there has not been a Section B in the free Wednesday paper. I'd like to know why. Thank you.

I THINK EVERY town ought to have two newspapers but it doesn't seem that Cape can support two of them. But, that way the public would get opposing views and be able to form their own judgments. In view of this I think that Don Pritchard is a good substitute for another newspaper and I don't think that Peter Kinder on KTXI last night showed himself to his best advantage by nitpicking Don Pritchard either. It was kind of pitiful that he can't take the heat. Thank you.

The program referred to, "Behind the Headlines", was on Channel 13 (cable), of course, and not on KTXI, which is a radio station. Why didn't you call in? We invited responses during the entire hour. We're more than willing to "take the heat." PDK.
