To the editor: In response to Michael H. Maguire's letter: First, Maguire should note that I did not call Morley Swingle evil, only that such a label was one option (evil, unprincipled or misguided). As a longtime supporter of our prosecutor, I prefer to think of Swingle as simply misguided on this issue, and I hope he will have an attack of reason sometime soon...

Second, to equate an accidental death to that of "a young boy who murdered his parents" who "should not be charged because he is an orphan" is a leap of illogic that is beyond the comprehension of any thinking person. Such an absurd statement is not even worth rebuttal.

Third, I am not out to defame anyone. Nevertheless, it is in fact my spiritual responsibility to protect by prayer, comfort and speaking out against those who would do unjust harm to one of my people. Justice is as much a spiritual issue as it is a legal one. As to honor, I hope that Swingle is an honorable man. Let him prove as much by doing the honorable thing by leaving a grieving family in peace and thereby bringing less dishonor to his office.
