I have been asked by several people lately what they can do to help in our community. Right now the school is looking for projects the students can do. Projects are easy to find and plentiful. If anyone has a project available, please let us know.
What would really help our community would be for our citizens to get involved. Join the Kiwanis, Women's Club, Historic Preservation Committee and Chamber of Commerce or start a Jaycee chapter. Most of these organizations need new members.
We are always looking for help on the boards for the city. Let city hall know if you are interested in helping out.

The Ramsey Creek Road Project is proceeding with the concrete paving being installed. A 2012 completion is still predicted.

Our public works department has been busy fine-tuning our water plant to ensure our water supply is sufficient to meet our needs through our peak demands. The clarity of our water should remain consistent due to these modifications.
---
The repaving of our asphalt streets has been delayed until spring. We are visiting alternate options for the paving bidding. Any patching due to this delay will be done as needed.

The chamber of commerce and the park department will sponsor the Winter Wonderland Parade and 5K run and talent show on Dec. 3. This will begin the chamber's buy local punch card program. The Christmas lights in the park will be lit Dec. 3 as well.

The fire department will have our new (used) rescue truck in service soon. We would like to thank Truman Lemons for the donation of his building and property east of the fire station.

Some of our capital improvement tax money was used to purchase two pieces of property that had 13 substandard mobile homes. Eight of these homes have been removed, and the other five will be gone soon. Once final cleanup is complete, we will either sell the properties or we may put playground equipment at one, possibly both locations.
We intend to continue to try to improve our town.
Tim Porch is the mayor of Scott City.
