Wednesday morning women will have a chance to pray and laugh.

Comedic team Kim Proffer and Tracy Bonner of K&T Ministries will be the featured guests in the inaugural "Power of Praying Women Prayer Breakfast," which is being put on for women in all Christian denominations.

Proffer and Bonner will share their own personal testimonials but also a comedy routine. The women are best friends, and Bonner's alter-ego, comedian LaWanda Mylanta Arsonoma Smith, will "tell it like it is, with a vocabulary that gets a little mixed up sometimes."

That portion of the fellowship promises to be entertaining, but ultimately it is a prayer breakfast.

Attendees will hear from different community women who have "so many backgrounds" according to organizer Casey Crowell. The women will minister through song and prayer.

The breakfast will take place at Ray's Conference Center at 3257 William St. in Cape Girardeau.

Doors will open at 5:45 with the buffet beginning at 6 a.m. and the program at 6:30. The cost is $10 per seat or a table of eight for $100.

Reservations must be made in advance by calling 573-270-0931.

This sounds like it will be both a fun and spiritual event. We tip our caps to the organizers, and hope the event is well attended.
