To the editor:I would like to respond in agreement with Dr. Dorothy Munch's letter, "Rush Limbaugh brings no honor." I have only been a resident of Cape Girardeau for 20 months and am proud of the city and all the wonderful amenities it has for a town this size. However, I am embarrassed that the city seems to be proud of someone whom I consider to be a narrow-minded, intolerant bigot. I find our claim to fame projects our progressive city as an uneducated, redneck town. I realize that Cape Girardeau is known for being a politically conservative city, but that does not mean that we honor every person who labels himself as a conservative Republican.

I consider myself a Democrat. The only good thing that has come from Limbaugh's remarks is that it probably swayed many people to vote for Claire McCaskill in her successful bid to unseat Republican U.S. Sen. Jim Talent.
