Laurie Everett

AGE: 31

FAMILY: Husband Rocky and son Fletcher

EMPLOYER: Annie Laurie's Antiques

POSITION: Owner

COMMUNITY AND PROFESSIONAL INVOLVEMENT:

Member Chamber of Commerce, Old Town Cape

HER TYPICAL DAY:

I usually wake up at 6 a.m. (Fletcher doesn't like to sleep in), feed the kid, pets, maybe myself. Depending on the day I dress for one of my three jobs. Depending on the day I may wear three different outfits. When I am at my shop, it's usually vintage clothing. Two days a week I work at Southeast Missouri State University as an adjunct professor and two days a week I wear scrubs at Skyview Animal Clinic. I wear a lot of different hats and each day is meticulously planned.

MOST SATISFYING PART OF HER WORK:

The most satisfying part of having my own business is that I call the shots.

HER WORST HAIRSTYLE:

When I was 12 or 13, I begged my Mom to let me get a perm. Against her better judgment, she agreed and I ended up with a frizzy poodle perm. Hideous and I was already at that awkward age and then the haircut just added to the ugliness!

HER FAVORITE SONG FROM THE '80s:

"In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel

HER BIGGEST FIRST-DAY BLOOPER:

It had to be when I was in the military, because in awkward situations I tend to laugh and basic training is not the best place to do that.

HER MOST EMBARASSING WORK MOMENT:

I never really got embarrassed at work, but I had a lot of embarrassing outfits. When I worked at Videos and Creme our outfits were purple umbro-like shorts and yellow collared shirts.
