Several businesses and organizations will recognize October as breast cancer awareness month with fundraisers or awareness programs. Here is a list of some breast cancer advocacy events happening this week in Southeast Missouri. E-mail your event or program to calendar@semissourian.com.
Pretty in Pink Run
The American Cancer Society has organized the Pretty in Pink 5K run/walk for the second year. The 2010 walk will start at 8 a.m., Saturday in Arena Park. Registration starts at 7 a.m. and is $25. Shop for a cause
Customers can purchase a $5 shopping pass for special deals at Macy's and www.macys.com Saturday. Shopping passes are available at Womancare through Saturday. The proceeds from the passes go to the Dig for Life campaign. Call 331-5994 for more information.
Special sales
St. James Winery has released special breast cancer bottles of wine. The winery will donate part of the sale of each bottle to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Look for the pink ribbon on bottles of Velvet Red, Velvet White, Pink Catawba, Country Red and Country White wines during October. These pink ribbon bottles will be available at Schnucks stores in Missouri, Illinois, Iowa and Indiana; Price Cutters in Missouri, and at the St. James Winery Tasting Room.
