Scholarship

Heather Birk of Jackson received the 2006 B.W. Harrison Memorial Scholarship at the 20th annual Missouri 4-H Foundation Recognition Banquet held Sept. 29 in Columbia, Mo. She is a student in the doctorate of physical therapy program at Maryville University in St. Louis.

Extra Credit

Sarah Reinecke, a teacher at Scott City Middle School, was named 2006-2007 Teacher of the Year by the Southeast Missouri English Teachers Association at its fall conference.

The Cape Girardeau Central High School Marching Tigers ended their competitive season recently with a second-place finish in the Red Division at the Greater St. Louis Marching Festival. The band competed in five contests this year, placing at each.
