A Jackson bank is offering more than season's greetings to the ailing housing industry this Christmas; the board of directors of the Jackson Exchange Bank and Trust Co. has authorized the bank to allocate $1 million in low-interest loans for new home buyers in the Jackson area.

The Jackson City Council last night lowered water and light rates, reduced the salary of the employees, and made certain orders regulating the volunteer fire department; the council ordered that the volunteer firefighters must have one drill each month, for which each man will receive 75 cents.
Norman Hely, an official with Federal Materials Co., has offered the materials from the old Alt log cabin near the Blue Hole quarry to the Cape Girardeau Girl Scouts; bricks and logs and other materials will be moved to Rockwood Park, where the Girl Scouts have permission to build their "Little House."
The mission which was conducted last year at St. Mary's Catholic Church will be renewed by the Rev. Daniel; for three days, it will continue with services both morning and evening; sermons will be in English and in German.
The dedication of the new Lutheran church at Jackson, which had been planned for next Sunday, will have to be postponed; the decorated windows failed to arrive at the appointed time.
