Rear Admiral Howard A. Yeager, who recently assumed command of the Ninth Naval District, is the guest speaker at the quarterly meeting of the Cape Girardeau Council of the Navy League.

A firefighting unit available for use throughout Cape Girardeau County is expected to be ready for operation next week, reports Dale Schneier, captain of the Sheriff's Patrol, a Civil Defense organization; the Patrol's firetruck was constructed with volunteer labor from parts of trucks, using the Bangert garage for most of the work.

A final $16,874.49 in the receivership of the Cape Girardeau Northern Railroad has been paid out, and the C.G.N. case, on the Common Pleas Court docket for 24 1/2 years, has been closed.

Although falling about 20 feet from a second-story window to the ground, Nancy Suzanne, 3, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Lewis, escapes serious injuries; the child is playing with neighbors Elizabeth and Emma L. Fuerth, when she falls through a window on the north side of the house at 328 S. Spanish St.

Messrs. Miesner and Miller of the Miesner Manufacturing Co. of Altenburg are in Cape Girardeau to consider the removal of their plant to this city.

Local Boy Scouts reorganize their company; after a period of several months' torpidity, since Scoutmaster Frank Schulte left town, new life is breathed into the troop by leaders Sam Sherman, Charles Boutin, Robert Lamkin and Arthur Bowman, who have taken over sponsorship of the organization.
