The question of whether a mobile home park should be built on Lampe Road near Klaus Park, west of Cape Girardeau, was aired at a public hearing yesterday before the County Court; controversy has surrounded the proposal because residents in the area have petitioned against it and the city of Cape Girardeau has objected to it; the county Planning Commission, however, has approved the plan.

Cape Girardeau residents gassing up the family car for a weekend trip are paying $1.22.9 a gallon for regular grade fuel and $1.27.9 for unleaded.

Warrant Officer Laurence L. Fee and Warrant Officer Murray L. Grace have been promoted to chief warrant officers in the 140th Infantry, Missouri National Guard; both officers are assigned full time to Service Company 140 in Cape Girardeau as regimental maintenance and regimental track vehicle officers, respectively.

The retail store of the Missourian Office Supply Co. on Broadway in Cape Girardeau is undergoing a complete remodeling program; the present two store rooms will be made into a single, large retail area.

Republicans have no candidates for the nomination for the two state senatorial posts in Southeast Missouri; Langdon R. Jones, Democrat of Kennett, Mo., is unopposed for the 21st District seat; there are three candidates for the Democratic nomination in the 23rd District: Tillman Anderson of Commerce, Mo., J.C. McDowell of Charleston, Mo., and T.A. Penman of Portageville, Mo.

J. Grant Frye resigns as judge advocate of the Missouri Department, American Legion, to pursue his campaign for the Republican nomination for lieutenant governor of Missouri.

100 years ago: June 4, 1907

Capt. Mabrey and Lt. Medley go to Perryville, Mo., to meet Maj. Arthur Oliver of Caruthersville, Mo., for the purpose of organizing a company of the Missouri National Guard.

Leo Bartels, who recently graduated 10th in his class of 126 from the St. Louis medical college, has been given a position with the St. Louis city hospital; he will spend a year at the hospital and will then be ready for general practice.
