Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jackson Route 2, and Christ Lutheran Church of Gordonville hold their Mission Festival at latter church; Dr. Allan Buckman, who served as missionary in Nigeria, is guest speaker.

Suzanne Priest, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Priest of Cape Girardeau, is crowned Notre Dame Varsity Queen.

George C. Hensley, veteran city letter carrier, makes his last delivery of mail to homes he has served for long time; he retires from active duty, after 32 years of continuous service.

75 years ago: Sept. 30, 1929

For perhaps last time in Cape Girardeau, circus parade winds its way through streets of town; several thousand Girardeans and visitors line streets to see Sparks Circus street parade.

Working from about 2:30 until 7 p.m. in continuous yo-yo marathon, Larry Blaylock, 15, of Cape Girardeau, broke all local records Saturday, spinning toy 13,221 consecutive times.
