Southeast Missouri State University's women's basketball team yesterday landed three players on the seven-member all-Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association team: league MVP Jerri Wiley, Sherry Mitchell and Renee Rogliardi; Ed Arnzen was named Coach of the Year.

U.S. Sen. Kit Bond and Susan Engeleiter, administrator the Small Business Administration in Washington, D.C., tour Custom Design Inc., a 12,000-square-foot operation at 2365 Rust Ave., to gather information on a successful small-business operation; the business is owned by Judy Below.

For the first time in the city's history, Checker taxicabs are operating here; Kelley Transportation Co., which operates the Broadway and Small Rate cab firms, purchased six of the new vehicles, and they received their initiation on the city's snow-laden streets Wednesday; the new cars are manufactured explicitly by the Checker Cab Co. for use as taxis.

The Jim Wilson Co. has sold its building on South Spanish Street to Bill Hollenbeck, who is moving his operations from the present location at William Street and Kingshighway to the more spacious quarters; the Wilson firm recently completed its new building on west Themis Street.

A proposal eliminating the use of a part of Courthouse Park as a site for the new post office building, but designed to bring about the construction of a new post office and the modernization on an extensive scale of Common Pleas Courthouse and the public library, is sent to congressman Orville Zimmerman.

Initiated at a Rotary Club meeting yesterday, a campaign to raise funds to send the Golden Troopers drum and bugle corps to Jefferson City tomorrow for participation in inaugural ceremonies for Gov.-elect Forrest C. Donnell goes over the top.

Students and faculty members of the Normal School and residents of the high-brow neighborhood too hard-pressed by social duties to prepare meals at home will welcome the announcement a cafeteria is to be started at once on Normal Avenue, in front of the school and by the two dormitories; Sam McClatchey has just rented the Ida Hirsch house on Normal, where he will prepare quick-order meals.

Last night's fifth annual firemen's ball at West End Hall is pronounced a grand success; a crowd of between 200 and 300 attended.
