Southeast volleyball begins OVC play

Southeast Missouri State University's volleyball team begins Ohio Valley Conference play tonight as Austin Peay visits Houck Field House for a 7 p.m. match.

The Otahkians are 1-11 and have played just one home match, losing to Southern Illinois Tuesday. The Governors are 5-7.

Southeast tied for first with Murray State in the OVC preseason coaches' poll. Austin Peay was picked sixth.

The Otahkians also have an OVC home match Saturday, facing Tennessee Tech at 2 p.m.

Southeast soccer on the road Sunday

Southeast's women's soccer team will put its six-game unbeaten streak on the line Sunday when the Otahkians play a 1 p.m. non-conference match at powerful Mississippi.

The Rebels are 7-1 and ranked 24th nationally by Soccer Buzz Magazine. The Otahkians are 5-1-3, with four wins and two ties in their last six games. Southeast has posted three straight shutouts.

Southeast began OVC play Tuesday with a 5-0 win over Austin Peay.

Wilson cards hole in one at Kimbeland C.C.

Craig Wilson of Jackson carded his first hole in one Wednesday at Kimbeland Country Club.

Wilson used a 5-iron to ace No 6, a par 3 playing 160 yards. Kim Wilson witnessed the shot.

WGA holds its final event of the season

Judi Brey, Lisa Bjelich and Janet White shot a 72 to win a three-person scramble, the final event of the Women's Golf Association's schedule this year.

The team of Dana Underwood, Mary Jane Eftink and Jean Mabrey finished a stroke back in the event, played at Cape Girardeau Country Club.

Closest to the pin winners were Mabrey (No. 2) and Linda Tewis (No. 13). Chris Sheets posted the low-putt total for nine holes.
