Indiana racer posts All Star series win at ATPR

BENTON, Mo. -- Paul May passed leader Randy Hannagan with three laps to go and held on for his first All Star Circuit of Champions win Saturday at Auto Tire and Parts Racepark.

May, of Terre Haute, Ind., became the 22nd different winner in 46 events on the traveling All Star series this season. The tour concludes next week in Ohio.

Hannagan, of San Jose, Calif., shot from a front-row start and led the first 37 laps, but May made the winning pass when Hannagan was stuck behind a lapped car. Joey Montgomery of Fredericktown, Mo., also took advantage and moved into second.

Hannagan finished third over Mike Ward and Greg Wilson. Among the track's local qualifiers, Jerrod Hull of Sikeston, Mo., was seventh, Lee Dunn of East Prairie, Mo., eighth and Todd Rowland of Jackson 19th. Track points champion Robbie Standridge of Springfield, Ill., was 22nd. Dunn was the top qualifier among 45 entries in 11.891 seconds.

Otahkian soccer team falls to Mississippi

Nationally-ranked Mississippi routed Southeast Missouri State University's soccer team on Sunday, holding the Otahkians to one shot on goal in a 5-0 victory in Oxford, Miss.

Mississippi, ranked 24th in Soccer Buzz Magazine, received two goals apiece from Karen Hall and Kristal Menard. Brittany Potts scored Ole Miss' first goal 26 minutes into the game. Ole Miss led 2-0 at halftime.

Southeast fell to 5-2-3 while Ole Miss improved to 9-1-0.

Notre Dame spikers take second in tournament

Notre Dame Regional High School's volleyball team placed second in the 32-team Arkansas State Tournament over the weekend in Jonesboro, Ark..

Notre Dame (23-2), the top-ranked team in Southeast Missouri, fell in three sets to Jonesboro's Valley View in the championship game. The Bulldogs went 3-0 in pool play and upended four-time defending tournament champion Jonesboro in the semifinals.
