Troxel 46th at Olympic Trials

Jackson High School graduate Steffan Troxel finished 46th among 74 competitors Saturday in the preliminaries of the men's 1,500-meter freestyle at the U.S. Olympic swimming trials in Omaha, Neb.

Troxel, who swims collegiately at the University of Indiana, had a time of 15 minutes, 51.15 seconds.

Only the swimmers with the top eight times in the preliminaries advanced to today's finals. The top three from the finals qualify for next month's Olympics in Beijing, China.

Miller, Temm win tournament

Rick Miller was the men's champion, while Alice Temm was the women's champion at the Fourth of July flag tournament at Dalhousie Golf Club.

Bill Bishop took second, followed by Clay Crosson and Tom Viers.

Joan Morgan was second in the women's division, followed by Phyllis Seabaugh.
