Vieira awarded outstanding swimmer

Gators swimmer Gabby Vieira was named the outstanding swimmer at the Ozark Long Course Championship, the final meet of the long-course season in the USA Swimming's Ozark region.

Vieira, 11, won the 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 400 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 50 butterfly, 100 butterfly and 200 individual medley.

Gators cruise to conference title

The Gators swimming team rode a number of strong performances to the team title at the Southeast Missouri Swim Conference meet.

The following Gators swimmers captured high-point trophies in their divisions: Austin Hobbs (11- and 12-year old boys), John-John Kiefner (9-10 boys), Josey Powell (9-10 girls), Kristian Troxel (13-14 boys), Gabby Vieira (11-12 girls), Annie Wolpers (15 and older girls), Thomas Janisse (15 and older boys) and a tie between Bridget Hale and Kyleigh Troxel (13-14 girls).

Kristian Troxel, Kyleigh Troxel and Vieira each set three conference records at the meet. Kristian Troxel broke the record in the 100 freestyle (51.68 seconds), 100 breaststroke (1:06.11) and 200 individual medley (2:06.60). Kyleigh Troxel broke the record in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.89), 100 butterfly (1:05.01) and 200 individual medley (2:19.95). Vieira broke the record in the 50 backstroke (30.53), 50 butterfly (28.44) and 100 individual medley (1:06.49).

Jones wins medalist honors

Dixie Jones took home medalist honors at the weekly Kimbeland ladies golf outing.

Karen Heisel won A flight while Mary Rose James took first in C flight.

Nancy Kohl won the handicap tournament at Kimbeland Country Club. Shelley Bohn took second while Ronnie Kirk, Janet Verhines and Harriet Drusch tied for third place.

McCune cards hole in one at Kimbeland

Sharon McCune recorded a hole in one on hole No. 4 at Kimbeland Country Club.

The hole was playing 105 yards.

Mindy Pulley and Dixie Jones witnessed the shot.

Kiefner team wins Hayden Memorial tourney

The team of Luanne Kiefner, Jim Limbaugh, Michele Litzelfelner and Rob Litzelfelner won the championship flight at the sixth annual Ken Hayden Memorial golf tournament.

The team of Kelly Wright, Aaron Wright, Corene Mavigliano and Matt Mavigliano took second while the team of Marilyn Curtis, Scott Higgins, Susan Dry and Bill Tegel was third.

In A flight, the team of Mary Kistner, Jim McElreath, Mary Jean Eftink and Leon Eftink placed first. The team of Steven Bjelich, Lisa Bjelich, John Laskowski and Kate Barnette was second while the team of Gail Dame, Kerwin Urhahn, Barb Dalton and David Dalton finished third.

In B flight, the team of Amy Ressel, Bob James, Kelly McGowan and Luke Cowell took home first place. The team of Linda Decker, Martin Repka, Jen Wood and William Zellmer took second while the team of Kathy Gaulding, Ryan Dingley, Shannon LeGrand and Scott Meyer was third.

McClellan victorious at inaugural race

Wynn McClellan covered the inaugural Jackson Tuff Ten, a 10-mile road race, in 59 minutes, 5 seconds to cross the line in first place.

Heather Williams was the top female finisher, crossing the line in 1 hour, 29 minutes.

Ostendorf earns three softball honors

Cortney Ostendorf, a 2007 graduate of Notre Dame Regional High School, earned three honors for her play on the Three Rivers Community College softball team.

Ostendorf was named to the MCCAC all-conference first team after batting .457 with 36 RBIs and 13 doubles. She was named the conference player of the year and earned a spot on the all-region first team.

Garland, Grady earn title

The team of Rick Garland and Randy Grady took first place at the Southeast Missouri Horseshoe Association's tournament at the Jackson Knights of Columbus.

The team of Lachelle Cook and Lester Powell took second while Cori Stoverink and Gerald Eftink placed third.

The next tournament will be Saturday at the Oran Jaycees.
