Jonathan Anderson
School: Cape Central
Coach: Mark Hahn
This season: After a year away from cross country, to concentrate on school work and focus on religion, Anderson, a senior, is running better than ever. Prior to taking first place at the SEMO Conference meet last week, Anderson had finished third at Carbondale, Ill., on Oct. 3.
Week report: Anderson edged teammate Mark Stone, a sophomore, to win the SEMO Conference meet in Poplar Bluff. His time was 21.24 on a long course which measured approximately 3.8 miles. Anderson also won the conference championship as a sophomore. Central swept the first five spots to post a perfect score in the meet for the first time in SEMO conference history. David Stahr, Jeff Haycraft and Justin Hawkins, in order, followed Anderson and Stone.
Coach's comments: "Once he decided he was going to run this fall, he prepared himself. He's very athletic, but the thing that separates him is his intelligence. He learns something from every race, and he doesn't forget it."
