WACO, Texas -- James Franklin put Missouri in position to do it again, to wipe out another double-digit, fourth-quarter deficit in central Texas.

The Tigers couldn't finish the rally this time.

Terrance Ganaway had touchdown runs of 38 and 80 yards, then ended Missouri's last-gasp hope with an 18-yard burst in the final minute, making sure Baylor held on for a 42-39 victory Saturday night.

The Tigers were down by 14 when the final period began a week after turning an 11-point, fourth-quarter deficit into an overtime win at Texas A&M.

Franklin threw three touchdowns as Missouri rallied for 25 points in the quarter, but the Tigers gave up 14 -- on a 68-yard touchdown pass and Ganaway's 80-yarder. Missouri failed to recover a pair of onside kick attempts and couldn't stop Ganaway on a third-and-2, giving Baylor the game-clinching final first down.

"We battled at the end, but it's all about consistency," Tigers coach Gary Pinkel said. "We make a lot of mistakes -- a lot of fundamental, discipline, basic mistakes on both sides of the football. And it makes it very difficult to win when you're doing it. I'm responsible that we play better. They're a really good football team, and I'm disappointed and I expected to play better."

The Bears (5-3, 2-3 Big 12) gained a school-record 697 yards. Robert Griffin III threw for 406 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 64 yards and another score.

"He's real tough to get a hold of when he's in the pocket," Missouri defensive end Brad Madison said. "We missed him a couple of times when he slipped out and made a big play."

Griffin was most impressed by Ganaway's touchdowns -- a zigzagging run for the 38-yard TD and a burst along the sideline that went for 80 yards.

"You don't see that from a 240-pound back," Griffin said. "I was amazed. ... I think the cutback was better, but the 80-yarder was impressive. ... He's faster than you think he is. You're not going to run him down in the open field."

The Bears were coming off consecutive lopsided losses and in a 1-3 funk since climbing to No. 15 in the nation. They fell behind the Tigers 7-0 and 14-7, then roared back to lead 28-14 on Ganaway's first touchdown.

The Bears ended up needing an onside kick recovery and one final first down by Ganaway to seal the victory over the Tigers.
