EDMONTON, Alberta -- Anson Carter and Marty Reasoner each scored twice and Tommy Salo made 29 saves for his first shutout of the season as the Edmonton Oilers beat the St. Louis Blues 5-0 Friday night.

Mike Comrie had a goal and two assists, and Ryan Smyth added three assists for the Oilers, who played their first game at home after a 3-3 road trip.

The three assists tied Smyth's career high, and Comrie earned his 50th career goal and 100th career point. The shutout was the 31st of Salo's career.

Salo was particularly sharp in the first period, sliding across the crease to stop Martin Rucinsky's one-timer with Edmonton down a man and then getting his body in front of Scott Mellanby's point-blank one-timer on the same power play.

Fred Brathwaite made 20 saves for the Blues, 1-3 after a nine-game winning streak.

Comrie opened the scoring at 3:28 of the first with his ninth of the season and 50th career goal. After Brathwaite stopped a pair of Smyth's backhanders, Comrie flicked the rebound into an open side.

Carter made it 2-0 with a power-play goal at 10:49. Smyth centered the puck from behind the net and Carter one-timed it over Brathwaite.

Reasoner, one of the players Edmonton received in the Doug Weight trade, extended the lead to 3-0 with another power-play goal with a minute left in the first. Ethan Moreau's shot from the circle was stopped, but Reasoner crashed the crease and jammed in the rebound.
