Cape Girardeau Central High graduate Shawn Pemberton, who played baseball the past two seasons at Southeast Missouri State University, is transferring to Belmont College for the coming school year.

A catcher, Pemberton saw limited action at Southeast the past two years, hitting .196 in 56 at-bats as a freshman and .098 in 41 at-bats as a sophomore.

Pemberton, who batted better than .300 for the Kohlfeld Capahas this summer, will play for former Three Rivers Community College head coach and Murray State assistant coach Dave Jarvis at Belmont, which is located in Nashville, Tenn. Jarvis will be in his first season as Belmont's head coach.

Pemberton is the third former Cape Central baseball player to transfer from Southeast after last season, the others being Lance Craft (Arkansas State) and Talley Haines (Freed-Hardeman).
