The Plaza Tire Capahas continued their rampage through the Union Printers tournament in Daytona Beach, Fla.

The Capahas routed a squad from Chicago 17-2 on Tuesday to finish the pool play portion of the four-team event 3-0. They have outscored the opposition 40-3.

"We're playing pretty good baseball," said Capahas manager Jess Bolen after his squad improved its overall record to 24-10.

The Capahas banged out 20 hits Tuesday and did not commit an error for the second straight game. They have just one error in their three tournament contests.

"We've hit the ball well, played good defense and gotten good pitching," Bolen said.

Sean Bard led the Capahas' offense Tuesday by going 5 for 6 with a double and three RBIs.

Drew Pixley went 3 for 5 with two doubles, two RBIs and three runs scored. Josh Eftink also went 3 for 5.

Jordan Kimball and Daryl Graham both had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs. Kody Campbell added two hits.

Dustin Hunter pitched the first six innings for the victory. He allowed one run and three hits while striking out six and walking three.

"Dustin pitched really well," Bolen said. "He probably could have stayed in there longer but he hasn't been pitching much lately and I didn't want to stretch him out."

Jacob Wente allowed a hit and a run in his one inning of work.

Kirk Boeller finished up with two shutout innings, allowing two hits and striking out four.

The Capahas, the only undefeated team in pool play, face a squad from Boston at 10 a.m. today. A win gives the Capahas the tournament title while a loss forces another game Thursday.

The Capahas began the tournament Sunday with a 13-0 rout of Boston.
