Cape Girardeau Central High's girls swimming team held on Saturday for an exciting 89-83 dual-meet victory over visiting Wentzville.
The Lady Tigers improved their record to 2-2.
Grace Freeman and Jean Maguire both had state qualifying times for the Lady Tigers. Freeman won the 200 freestyle in 2:08.79 while Maguire captured the 100 freestyle in 58.92.
Both swimmers were also first in other individual events, Freeman winning the 100 backstroke (1:09.08) and Maguire winning the 50 freestyle (26.91).
Jennifer Freeze was first in the 100 fly (1:14.35).
Central won two relays: the 200 freestyle of Laura Dombrowski, Freeze, Green and Maguire (1:54.94); and the 400 freestyle of Courtney Maguire, Freeze, Green and Freeman.
Placing second were C. Maguire in the 200 freestyle and 500 freestyle; Dombrowski in the 100 fly and 200 IM; the 200 freestyle relay of Laura Primonato, Marissa Tilley, Reagan Kelly and Cathlin Miller; and the medley relay of Freeman, Tilley, J. Maguire and Dombrowski.
Finishing third were Freeze in the 100 backstroke, Tilley in the 100 breaststroke and Green in the 500 freestyle.
Central will host Oakville on April 1.
