Luke Allen singled in the tying run with two outs in the eighth inning, rallying the Dodgers into a 4-4 tie with the Cardinals on Tuesday.

Omar Daal, trying to become the Dodgers' fifth starter, allowed two first-inning homers and six hits in three innings. Five days ago, he allowed five runs in just one inning.

The Dodgers scored two runs in the first. Dave Roberts, battling for the starting center field job, began the rally by walking, stealing second and scoring on a one-out single by Paul Lo Duca. Lo Duca scored on a two-out single by Eric Karros.

St. Louis regained the lead with two runs on three hits in the fifth off reliever Dennis Springer. Brian Jordan's solo home run in the sixth off Mike Matthews cut the lead to 4-3. Los Angeles tied it in the eighth off Travis Smith when Allen's single scored Phil Hiatt.
