ATLANTA -- Darren Holmes won for the first time in three years and Chipper Jones hit a go-ahead grounder as the struggling Atlanta Braves overcame two Cliff Floyd homers to beat the Florida Marlins 3-2 Friday night.

The Braves had lost four of five coming into the season-high 10-game homestand and had been last in the NL East since Sunday, their longest stay in the cellar since April 21-26, 1992.

Jason Marquis, who had been scheduled to start for Atlanta, was scratched because of a sore shoulder and replaced by Damian Moss.

Andruw Jones hit a two-run homer off Ryan Dempster (0-1), who got his fifth complete game in 107 career starts. John Smoltz got his fourth save, leaving the bases loaded in the ninth when Andy Fox flied out.

Giants 3, Astros 2

HOUSTON -- Livan Hernandez won his fourth straight start despite another home run by Lance Berkman as San Francisco beat Houston.

Reggie Sanders hit a two-run double off Shane Reynolds (2-2) and Rich Aurilia homered for the Giants.

Hernandez (4-0) allowed six his in seven innings, including homers Berkman's major league-leading ninth homer, which moved him ahead of Barry Bonds, who singled twice and drew three walk.

Robb Nen pitched the ninth for his fourth save.

MONTREAL -- Lee Stevens hit a three-run homer, and New York made three errors, increasing its major league-leading total to 24.

Roberto Alomar, a 10-time Gold Glove at second, made his first two errors of the season.

The crowd of 8,281 -- Montreal's first over 5,000 since drawing 34,351 on opening day -- included a large contingent of Mets fans who made the trip north from New York.

Tony Armas Jr. (2-2) allowed two runs -- one earned -- in 6 2-3 innings. Steve Trachsel (1-3), who defeated Armas on Sunday, gave up four unearned runs in the third. Matt Herges pitched a perfect ninth for his first save with the Expos.

Cubs 5, Reds 2

CHICAGO -- Matt Clement (1-2) matched his career high by striking out 12 for the second game in a row and Roosevelt Brown hit a two-run homer.

Clement allowed just four hits over seven shutout innings. He also had an RBI as he got his first win with the Cubs, who acquired him from Florida late in spring training.

Sean Casey, starting his first game since getting hit in the head with a pitch last weekend, went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Reds. Joey Hamilton (1-1) gave up five runs -- four earned -- five hits and five walks in six innings.

Antonio Alfonseca pitched the ninth for his third save.
