The Central baseball team split two games Friday at the Charger Invitational in Southaven, Miss., and qualified for the semifinal round.

Central clobbered state-ranked Oxford, Miss., 15-2 in five innings behind Brad LaBruyere's complete game and then lost a 5-3 decision to host Southaven.

He also contributed a double to a 16-hit attack that was led by Blake Slattery's three hits. Garrett Stevens, Eric Ennis, Matt Hester, Ty Craft and Lance Young each had two hits. Hester, Craft and Young had doubles.

The Tigers held a 4-0 lead heading to the bottom of the second inning. After Oxford scored two runs, Central erupted for seven in the top of the third.
