The Tigers (2-0) jumped ahead 2-0 after the first inning but gave up two unearned runs in the top of the second to let the Red Devils back in the game. The Tigers responded in the bottom half of the second with three runs and went on to add five more the next two innings.

Jake Welch pitched five innings to pick up the win for the Tigers. Welch allowed two runs -- both unearned -- and four hits. Sean Bard and Ben Johnson each pitched scoreless innings in relief. Hudson, Craft and Conrad all picked up doubles for the Tigers.

Jackson 14, Ste. Genevieve 9

Jackson trailed by as many as six runs but came from behind to win at home.

Ste. Genevieve scored six runs in the top of the third to put Jackson down six. Jackson answered with four in the bottom of the fourth inning and then two in the fifth to tie it.

Trevor Thompson hit a three-run home run to put Jackson (1-1) on top by five in the sixth.

Austin McDowell and Brandon Gendron both had three hits for Jackson. Tyler Beussink, Tyler Profilet, Jason Meystedt and Jason Owen all added two.

Brandon Stearns got the win. Stearns pitched 3 1/3 innings and allowed just one run on four hits.

Oran 36, Delta 1

Oran had a record-setting day as it opened its season with a home win.

The Eagles' 29 runs in the first inning is a state record for most runs in an inning, according to MSHSAA records. The record was 20 set in 2000 by Skyline.

Tyler Cookson hit a pair of home runs and Joey Bickings hit one. Bickings finished 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles. Cookson went 3-for-4 with a double.

Trey Graviett went two innings and struck out five for the win. Graviett, Tyler Nelson and Trevor Irwin combined for 15 strikeouts and no hits.

The Eagles' 36 runs ranks third for most in a game.

Advance 11, Bloomfield 7

Advance bounced back from a 17-2 loss to Dyersburg, Tenn., Monday to win at home.

Eric O'Hare hit a solo home run in the second inning to give Advance the lead. Justin Gibson worked four innings, struck out four and allowed two hits for the win.

Gibson went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and two RBIs. O'Hare went 2-for-4.

Park Hills Central 10, St. Vincent 0

St. Vincent was no-hit by Park Hills Central on the road

Alex Armbruster went five innings, gave up five hits and five earned runs but struck out seven in the loss.

St. Vincent's JV lost 13-5.

SOFTBALL

Delta 8, Oran 2

Tiffany Johnson hit a three-run home run in the fifth, part of a four-run inning as Delta (2-0) won on the road.

Sarah M. Cook took the win in relief. Cook faced 18 batters, fanned four of them, walked four, and gave up no hits.

Jenny Dannenmueller went 3-for-4 with two doubles and one RBI. Johnson went 2-for-5.

Advance 12, Bloomfield 0

Advance went on the road and won in five innings.

Angela Broshuis and Kacie Cooper each went 3-for-4. Abby Winchester went 2-for-4 with three runs scored and two stolen bases.

Alicia Broshuis allowed just one hit to get the win.

GIRLS SOCCER

St. Pius 1, St. Vincent 0

Katie Crow scored in the 54th minute to give St. Pius a road win over St. Vincent.

St. Vincent's JV won 2-1.

GOLF

Central 162, Sikeston 165

Central had three of the top four scores and won at the Bootheel Golf Club in Sikeston.

Ty Gramling led the Tigers with a 39. Blake Driskell shot a 40, Todd Obergonner shot a 41 and Paul York a 42.

GIRLS SWIMMING

Central 106, Notre Dame 80

Central took first in 10 of the 13 events, including a sweep of the relays.

Cassie Kipper and Katie Maginel took home two individual first-place finishes for Central (2-1). Maginel won the 500 and 50 frees, and Kipper won the 100 and 200 frees. Cara Crawford finished first in the 50 meter diving with a 177.55. Brett Ford won the 100 breast.

Ashley Ducharme and Kristin Enderle were first and second in the 200 individual medley, Notre Dame's best event of the day.--From staff reports
