Cape Girardeau Central High's boys soccer team exploded with four second-half goals to break a tie and coast past visiting Marion, Ill. 5-1 Tuesday afternoon.
The Tigers, now 8-11-2, got goals from Nathan Gibbar, Chris Cole, Arthur Pilsner, Brad Bollwerk and Keith Benton. Justin McMullin, Brett McNabb and Benton had assists.
Central's JV played to a 1-1 tie.
The Tigers play at Jackson Thursday.

SIKESTON -- Jackson improved to 13-4-2 with a shutout victory on the road Tuesday.
Nathan Windeknecht scored three goals, increasing his school-record total for the season to 33. Jimmy Sievers and Chris Kohm also scored while Kohm, Joey Weber, Mike Schemel and Tyler Stearns had assists.
Goalie Paul Johns recorded his seventh shutout of the season.
Jackson's JV prevailed 3-0, getting goals from Justin Vines, Matt Gordon and Jonathan Kleinhample.

NEW MADRID -- Jackson won again Tuesday night, this time using a three-game triumph on the road to improve its record to a sizzling 24-2-2.
Heather Brown had 30 assists and five kills; Andrea Koepper had 11 kills and 19 digs; Chrissi Glastetter had eight kills and 12 digs; Sara Johnson added five kills and 16 digs; Sara Nothdurft contributed six kills; Kara Thoma had five blocks and nine digs; and Diane Mirley added seven aces and eight digs.
Jackson also won the JV match 15-6, 15-12.
Woodland 12-15-15, Leopold 15-10-5
LEOPOLD -- Woodland improved to 15-9 and dropped Leopold to 13-6-1 by winning a three-game match Tuesday night.
Several Woodland players stood out, including Amanda Jordan (9 digs, 3 aces), Sarah Booth (8 digs, 7 kills), Diana Lukefahr (8 digs, 7 kills), B.J. Cameron (6 kills), Lilo Whitener (5 kills) and Julia Cutsinger (12 assists).
Leopold got 12 assists and six kills from Sarah Gowen, 12 kills from Gwen Vandeven and 12 digs from Jennifer VanGennip. Hannah Jansen and Emily Broshuis both added seven kills.
Bell City 15-15, Chaffee 8-4
CHAFFEE -- Bell City encountered little trouble in sweeping host Chaffee Monday night.
Kate Nolen finished with three kills for Chaffee.
Woodland won the JV game 15-13, 15-1.
De Soto 17-9-16, Perryville 15-15-14
DE SOTO -- Perryville fell to 11-12-2 after losing an extremely close three-game match Tuesday night.
Jamie Amberger had nine points, five kills and six blocks; Kristen Taylor had seven points and 10 kills; Jennifer Triller added 10 kills and four blocks; Nicole Blechle contributed seven points and 15 assists; Mandy Kirn had seven kills; and Shannon Dreyer had 13 assists.
Perryville's JV won 8-15, 15-6, 15-9.
Festus 15-15, St. Vincent 3-1
FESTUS -- St. Vincent played considerably shorthanded Tuesday night with eight players suspended on a homecoming rules violation.
St. Vincent fell to 6-12-4.

Caruthersville 50, Cape Central 6
CARUTHERSVILLE -- Central's freshmen fell to 0-5 with Tuesday's lopsided loss.
Central's lone touchdown came on an 8-yard pass from Bryan Crain to Jake Culver.
