OAKVILLE, Mo. -- Central sprinter Allen Walker had a single goal in his mind going into the Class 4 District 1 track meet Saturday at Oakville High School.

"My goal was to take first in every event I entered," said Walker, a sophomore.

That goal was accomplished, as Walker was three-for-three in winning the 100-meter dash and running legs in the victorious 400- and 800-meter relay teams.

Walker won the 100 in 11.2 seconds, which is well off his personal best time of 10.7 at Poplar Bluff earlier this season.

The sophomore quartet of Walker, Hykeem Hammonds, Tyler Terry and Anwar Glenn won the 400 relay in 43.57 seconds, which is a bit off of the school record time of 43.26 they set earlier in the season.

The same foursome won the 800-meter relay in 1:29.0.

"We came in expecting to win the 4x100," Walker said. "But the 4x200 was kind of a surprise and very exciting."

The efforts by the sprinters helped Central finish second as a team finish. Poplar Bluff won with 122 points. Central had 91.

Lindbergh won the girls meet with 130 points, while Jackson edged Central 120-119 for second.
