DEXTER — Kennett’s Dylan Yates raced in with a 28th-place finish in the varsity boys race at the Dexter Bearcat Invitational this past Saturday.
The event is widely considered as a great tune-up for this week’s district meets set for Cape Notre Dame Regional High School.
Yates clocked in with a time of 20:35.20. The race ends on the track at Charles Bland Stadium.
That was just one of many highlights on the day, which included the Campbell boys and Senath-Hornersville girls winning the JV divisions — by gender.
Kade Anderson was 35th overall, Gabriel Checkett 46th, Tanner Hansen 55th and Cash Franklin 57th.
Kennett finished sixth in the varsity boys team standings with 156 points and Senath-Hornersville seventh (170).
Adyn Goff had Senath-Hornersville’s best finish in the varsity boys race, taking 34th in a time of 21:27.70. Other Lions finishers were Braden Roy in 45th, Grant Burr 54th, Mason Williams 56th and Angel Ledezma 58th.
Morgan Chandler and Ailani Arenas both ran in the varsity girls division for Senath-Hornersville, finishing 24th and 27th, respectively.
In the JV girls division, Senath-Hornersville earned the winning plaque as Halle Jamerson placed second, Lily Chandler sixth, Ava Bollinger 8th and Tanya Martinez 10th. Jamerson’s time was 25:49.10.
Campbell’s Taylor Coleman was fourth and Rita-Joy Wheeler sixth in the same race, with Coleman’s time 26:38.60.
Six Campbell boys finished among the top-10 in the JV boys race, including Samuel Bunting’s second-place finish (19:41.60). Drew Fowler was fifth, Ben Rowland seventh, Logan Townsend eighth, Caiden Mayberry 9th and Zander Mayberry 10th.
Other Campbell finishers were: James Olinger 18th, Zander Hanners 19th, Kennan Siebert 21st, Clay Huber 22nd, Phillip Hanners 25th, Adon Lawless 29th, Jackson Foster 32nd and Wyatt Janson 34th.
Gerardo Castillo was sixth overall (21:11.10), Alejandro Soto 20th, Jacob Chapman 23rd and Luke Rushing 26th for Senath-Hornersville.

SET FOR SATURDAY
CAPE GIRARDEAU — Kennett, Senath-Hornersville and Campbell all will compete in various class district meets this Saturday.
Cape Notre Dame Regional High School will be the site of the event.
Kennett is set to compete in Class 3, with Senath-Hornersville in Class 2 and Campbell in Class 1.
