For the third straight season Delta and Scott County Central will meet in a Class 1 girls sectional when the teams tip off at 6:30 tonight at Central Junior High.

The game will be the third meeting between the teams this season. Delta owns both victories, although the last meeting, the regular-season finale for both teams at Scott County, went to overtime.

Delta enters the game 25-1 and ranked No. 2 in the state poll. Scott County is 11-10, and once again earned its sectional berth without having to play a district game.

"We don't take anyone for granted," Delta coach Randy White said. "We know Scott County Central will be tough. They were especially tough at their place."

The Bobcats are in the sectional round for the sixth straight season. That streak is not likely to end any time soon, as Delta does not have a senior on its roster.

Shea Smith and Kaci Menz, both juniors, lead the team in scoring at about 17 and 14 points, respectively. Fellow juniors Tiffany Amelunke and Kayla Seabaugh, sophomore Ashley Deprow and freshman Jodi Menz round out Delta's regular rotation.

Delta used just six players during the most of the season, including several in-season tournaments. Several junior varsity players were able to give the Bobcats some quality minutes against Scott County in the season finale along with the district championship game against Oran, something which should come in handy tonight. That added depth will be important considering three Delta starters fouled out in the last meeting between the teams.

"We played with six all season long," White said. "We've got some JV kids that are really going to contribute, and have contributed."

The Bravettes are led by junior guard Brittney Peet. Peet is a lightning-quick guard who led the team in scoring last season as a sophomore.

The previous two sectional meetings have been split between the two teams, with Delta coming out on top by a point last year. Both teams fell in the quarterfinal round to Chadwick.
